Creating a sub-account on Binance
A sub-account is an additional account linked to your main (master) account. It lets you isolate funds and strategies: for Mantix it's convenient to set up a dedicated sub-account, move only the amount you're willing to trade with, and issue an API key for that sub-account. This keeps your main balance completely separate.
Why this matters: the trading algorithm only works with the funds on the sub-account. The rest of your capital on the master account is never touched.
Requirements
- The account must be KYC-verified
- 2FA must be enabled
- Regular users can create up to 5 sub-accounts; VIPs get higher limits
Step-by-step
Step 1. Open the sub-accounts section
Sign in to your master account. Click the profile icon in the top right and open Sub Accounts → Account Management.
Step 2. Create a sub-account
Click + Create Sub Account. Two options:
- Create with email. Enter a working email not linked to another Binance account, set a password. You can sign in to such a sub-account separately.
- Create with virtual email. Enter the sub-account name — Binance will generate a virtual address. You cannot sign in to a virtual-email sub-account; it's managed only via the master account's API. This is a good choice for pure algorithmic trading.
Confirm creation with an email code (if required).
Step 3. Check the sub-account in the list
After creation the sub-account appears under Account Management. From here you can manage permissions, password, and email.
Step 4. Transfer funds to the sub-account
Open Asset Management → Transfer. Transfers between master and sub-accounts are instant and free. Move the amount you plan to trade with to the sub-account.
Only the master account can initiate transfers. A sub-account cannot move money on its own — this is an extra layer of security.
Step 5. Create an API key for the sub-account
Go to API Management on the sub-account and click Create API. Then follow Connect Binance via API (rights: only Spot & Margin Trading, no withdrawal, with Mantix IP binding).
Each sub-account can have up to 30 API keys.
Useful to know
- All sub-accounts inherit the master account's KYC level and trading fees — no re-verification needed.
- Before deleting or freezing a sub-account, make sure it has no open orders, assets, or API keys.
- When a sub-account is frozen, all its open orders are cancelled and its API keys deleted.
