Creating a sub-account on OKX
A sub-account is a secondary account linked to your main OKX account. It lets you separate funds and strategies. For Mantix it's convenient to create a dedicated sub-account, move the trading amount to it, and issue an API key for it.
Only the algorithm uses the sub-account funds; withdrawing directly from a sub-account is not allowed — an extra layer of protection.
Sub-account types
- Standard sub-account. You can configure trading and fund it via transfers from the main account. Good for trading strategies and algorithmic trading — what you want for Mantix.
- Managed trading sub-account. For delegating management to a professional trading team. Not needed for Mantix.
Sub-accounts can only be created in the web version (not in the mobile app). Withdrawals are only possible from the main account.
Step-by-step
Step 1. Open the sub-accounts section
Sign in to OKX on the web. Click the profile icon and choose Sub-accounts.
Step 2. Create a sub-account
Click + Create sub-account.
Step 3. Fill in the data
- Login name.
- Password.
- Account type — choose Standard sub-account.
Step 4. Confirm
Click Submit, then enter and confirm the 2FA code. The sub-account is created.
Step 5. (Optional) Enable quick switching
In the Sub-accounts section you can enable the Switchable option for a sub-account — then you can switch to it from the profile menu without a separate login. You can also sign in to the sub-account with its login and password on the OKX login page.
Step 6. Transfer funds to the sub-account
Move the trading amount to the sub-account. Transfers between main and sub-accounts are free.
Step 7. Create an API key for the sub-account
Create the sub-account's API key and connect it to Mantix following Connect OKX via API (Read + Trade rights, no withdrawal, with Passphrase and Mantix IP binding).
Useful to know
- Sub-accounts inherit the trading level (fees) of the main account; the level updates daily.
- Regular users (Lv1–Lv5) can create up to 5 sub-accounts; VIPs get higher limits.
- You can sign in to a sub-account with its login and password on OKX web and mobile.
